  1.      When they asked me what the options were on a DOS Restore command,
  2.         I just whipped out my DOSCARD and...

  5.     Yes, you too can be an instant DOS expert with the DOSCARD (tm), a new
  6. plastic, credit-card-size DOS reference card.
  7.  
  8.     Seriously, the DOSCARD saves a lot of trips to the DOS manual.  It's
  9. also a lot cheaper and handier to use than other DOS aids.  Of course, a
  10. plastic card holds a lot less information than a manual, but still we've
  11. managed to squeeze in nearly all of the parameters for nearly all PC-DOS
  12. commands -- about 56 of them.

  14.     How could we do that?  Like this:

  19. RESTORE d: fn /Subdirectories /Prompt

  22. (When executing a command, you would use only the part of the /option
  23. that's a capital letter.)  The card also explains that "d:" means a drive,
  24. "fn" means a fully qualified filename, e.g., drive/path/filename, etc.

  26.     Of course, with this method, you do have to know which command you
  27. want, but if you've used DOS for a while, then just seeing the commands and
  28. options will often trigger your recollection as to what to use.

  30.     The DOSCARD also lists the parameters for the "CONFIG.SYS" file, used
  31. by DOS at start-up time.  For instance:
  32.        DEVICE=VDISK.SYS disk-size 512 64 /Extended-memory
  33. gives you enough information to set up a 64K RAMdisk for DOS 3.0 & above.

  35.     The DOSCARD card can be used in conjunction with any level of DOS from
  36. 2.0 through 3.2.
